We Don’t Cross Picket Lines: Blackwarren Books Stands with the WGA

A fountain pen writing lines on paper.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) is currently on strike, and we at Blackwarren Books stand with them. We believe that writers deserve fair pay and a say in how their work is used.

The WGA is fighting for a number of important issues, including:

  • Increased minimum pay for writers

  • Residuals for streaming and other digital platforms

  • More control over how their work is used

  • Limitations on how studios can use AI-generated content

We believe that these are all important issues, and we support the WGA in their fight for them.

Representation Matters, and It Always Will

As a publisher of LGBT and BIPOC genre fiction, we know that writers from marginalized communities are often underrepresented and underpaid. We believe that it is important to support writers from these communities, and we are committed to doing so.

We hope that the WGA strike will be successful and that writers will finally be able to get the fair treatment they deserve.

In the meantime, we will continue to support writers by publishing their work and promoting their stories. We believe that it is important to amplify the voices of writers from marginalized communities, and we will continue to do so.

We stand with the WGA, and we hope that you will too.

Got your own story to tell? Blackwarren’s submissions are still open!
